Are You Wondering If Hormones Can Help You?
Males and females of all ages may experience a disruption or imbalance in hormones. While this is most commonly seen in the 30s and 40s, it also may occur as early as the 20s. Most of the population is aware of menopause and the commonly-associated symptoms such as hot flashes or night sweats, but many are unaware of the other, life-changing effects hormone imbalances may occur.
Common symptoms of hormone imbalance may include:
Difficulty sleeping or disrupted sleep patterns
Lack of energy or daytime fatigue
Reduced mental focus & memory or “brain fog”
Moody, anxious, depressed or irritable
Weight gain or increased fat around mid-section
Inability to lose weight despite exercise & diet
Decreased muscle strength
Muscle and/or joint pain
Reduced sexual desire and/or performance
While some patients (and even doctors) are just now hearing about it, bioidentical hormone therapy is not new. This form of hormone therapy has been practiced for many decades by experienced hormone providers from all over the world. There are many forms of bioidentical hormone therapy including creams, gels, patches, pills and even sterile hormone pellets.
Bioidentical hormone therapy using pellet implants is not new either. In fact, pellets have been used in the U.S., Europe and Australia since 1939! This form of therapy is available in our office as well as several other options. The pellets used in our clinic are called BioTE®.
Bioidentical hormones refer to the fact that the chemical makeup of this type of therapy is identical to what is (or was previously) made by the human body (ovaries in the females and testicles in males). Contrary to popular belief, significant hormone depletion often occurs as early as the age of 30 and may occur earlier in some patients with certain conditions such as PTSD, obesity, hypertension, sleep apnea, and chronic pain or in patients who are night or shift workers, policeman, fireman, soldiers, or have highly stressful jobs.
Call our office at 903-957-0275 to schedule a consultation if you feel you are having some of these symptoms. We are accepting new patients! Also, you do not have to be a regular patient in our clinic to be seen about hormone therapy. We see lots of patients in conjunction with their other doctors.
